Mont Marte Acrylics Review: Why I Use Dimension Premium Over Signature & Satin

If you love acrylic painting, you know that high-quality supplies can quickly drain your budget. My goal at The Wild Palette by MM is to prove you can create professional, meaningful art without the expense. I use Mont Marte paints extensively, but not all their lines are equal.

Here is my honest review, focusing on why the Dimension Acrylic Premium line is my must-have for creating my signature textured artwork.

Expert Comparison: Signature vs. Satin vs. Dimension

I have worked with three main Mont Marte acrylic lines. Choosing the right one is crucial for your style:

1. Acrylic Colour Signature (Cheapest)Too watery for me. Difficult to get an opaque color without many layers. I need a heavy body paint that holds its texture and brush stroke.

2. Satin Acrylic Premium (Mid-Range) It's good. Better saturation than Signature, but still a mid-flow paint. It lacks the body needed for the bold, visible texture in my abstract acrylic painting.

3. Dimension Acrylic Premium (My Preference) My clear winner. This heavy-body paint is thick and holds peaks and brushstrokes perfectly. This line is the secret to getting rich, high-quality results on a budget.

I rely on the superior performance of these three colors from the Dimension line:

  • Titanium White: Essential for its opacity and thickness. It creates clean, bold highlights and bases without becoming transparent.

  • Cobalt Blue & Sky Blue: I use these blues a lot! The Cobalt Blue provides the deep, rich hue for backgrounds (like the serene blue in the Maneki-neko piece), while Sky Blue is perfect for mixing lighter tints and softer gradations.

The Maneki-neko and Good Fortune

The painting featured here was created using the Mont Marte Dimension Acrylics.

This lucky cat was lovingly painted by MM, blending traditional Japanese symbolism with a contemporary, poetic touch. The 招き猫 (Maneki-neko, or beckoning cat) raises its right paw—a gesture traditionally believed to bring happiness and good fortune to you, your family, and your home. Set against a serene blue background, the white cat wears a green bib and golden bell, and holds a coin inscribed with 千万両—“ten million ryō,” a symbol of great prosperity. This original acrylic painting offers a quiet blessing, inviting joy and cultural warmth into any space.
